White Ribbon (draft) Itinerary Announced
August 2, 2011
In 2011 there will be a North and South Island White Ribbon Motorcycle ride. If you own a bike and want to ride with other men that believe violence is an issue worth riding for, then join us. Violence destroys families, sets our children on a destructive journey and affects one in three women.
As a rider, you can make a difference by joining the ride to raise awareness and help men to take action against violence. Riders can participate in the whole ride over all 8 days or ride for as long as you like . The ride will be led by the Super Maori Fullas and the Patriots Defence Force Motorcycle Club. They are responsible for the safety of the ride, speaking to media and representing the riders at the community events.
The draft itinerary for the White Ribbon Ride is now available. We have taken into consideration the 2009 and 2010 rides, to ensure that every community has had an opportunity to host the riders and that the ride remains safe.
We look forward to working with all the communities listed and hope that you will begin to promote the event to both riders and your community. Should you wish to contact us – please click the ‘about’ menu on the White Ribbon website.
The Families Commission is proud to lead this initiative in New Zealand and we are very thankful to the many agencies who support the campaign, specifically Te Puni Kōkiri who are a sponsor and partner in this initiative. I hope that together, we will make a difference and look forward to an exciting and vibrant campaign.
