Events 2022
Each year there are hundreds of White Ribbon events that take place all over New Zealand. Often the largest event is the White Ribbon Ride, which visits over 80 communities in both the North and South Islands throughout November in the lead up to White Ribbon Day. Despite the last two years being less than event friendly, 2022 is shaping up as a great opportunity to show your support for a violence free Aotearoa.
What your organisation can do to support White Ribbon’s campaign to
Prevent Men’s Violence Towards Women.

Name of Event: The Secret Keeper exhibition
Date: 5 September to 26 September 2022
Time: 10.00am to 4.00pm | Monday to Saturday
Venue: | The Village Hall | The Incubator Creative Hub
Description: White Ribbon Ambassador Catherine Daniels became an artist when trying to write about the trauma and abuse she suffered as a child at home and at school, became too hard. Finding it too difficult to write about her experiences, she decided to make a sculpture to portray what she couldn’t say in words. The figures she went on to create formed the basis for her touring exhibition The Secret Keeper, along with photographic images by her collaborator, Esther Bunning.
Through her works, Catherine hopes to start the important conversations needed to help others navigate their own journeys of healing through childhood trauma, parental neglect, sexual abuse and mental health issues.
By bringing this exhibition to Tauranga, not only will it allow people to view these world-class artworks, but will also provide an opportunity for individuals and a variety of community organisations, to engage with, bring awareness to and start conversations about a subject which is often shrouded in secrecy and shame.
