The 2023 White Ribbon Ride

WHITE RIBBON RIDE | RIDERS | EVENTS |PHOTOS

Not long to go until the 2023 White Ribbon Ride heads off.

The White Ribbon Riders travel throughout New Zealand spreading the non violence kaupapa and promoting the Respectful Relationships.  It’s an exciting initiative where riders who look rough and ride powerful bikes, talk about healthy masculinity and solutions to tackling this country’s crippling domestic violence record. Violence destroys families, sets our children on a destructive journey and affects one in three women. Usually this week-long motorcycle tour happens every November – White Ribbon Month, and is a powerful and inspirational voyage for all involved.

2022 saw the return of the Ride after Covid cancellations and we’re excited that the ride will take place again this year.

The key focus in 2023 is the role we have to ensure the next generation understand what ‘respectful relationships’ are (which by definition do not involve violence), and the need for us to role model ‘healthy masculinity’.

IDEAS FOR WHITE RIBBON RIDE EVENTS

This is the 2022 Toolkit, and lots of these ideas are still relevant. If you are able to organise a community event, that would be amazing – as the riders absolutely relish the opportunity to meet and chat with the public in those settings.

RIDERS

Joining the Ride is free and easy (though if you are taking part for more than a day trip, you may wish to eat and sleep with the Riders). For more details, head to the Riders page.

EVENTS

To organise an event or have the riders visit your town see Registration of Interest.
Events are listed on the schedule and vary from town to town. Lead riders are trained each year,. This has become more important since we introduced the topic of sexual violence and the issue of consent.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation consists of Marae, Army/Navy bases and budget accommodation. It is estimated that $25 per night will cover your costs. Contact us to chat to the lead rider to see if there is any possibility of staying with the riders. Please note accommodation can not be guaranteed, so you need to contact us if you wish to stay with the riders.

RULES

Anyone can join the Ride as long as they abide by the following rules:
No alcohol or drugs
No gang patches or rockers
Must have motorcycle of 250cc or greater (except within city and town limits)
