Giant Ribbon Pledge Project
The Giant Ribbon Pledge Project aims to link together White Ribbon events happening around the country by gathering signatures on 60 white panels. These panels will be gathered up after White Ribbon Day and sewn into a Giant White Ribbon. This ribbon will be displayed throughout prominent locations in New Zealand.
Each community or town will receive a panel of white fabric (2m x 0.5m) printed with a White Ribbon and the pledge: “We’re against violence towards women”. The idea is for each community to write their town name on the panel and gather signatures in support of White Ribbon.
- Opportunities for signings can be found at council meetings, sporting events, libraries, schools, hospitals, and cultural events etc – there is no limit to where it can be signed! We encourage you to get local media along to witness high profile signings, i.e. the Mayor, local MPs, DJs, reporters, police, and high profile personalities in your community.
- Please use the fine tip vivid pen (provided) – you may want high profile signatories to write their name below their signature. It is important that we get all the panels back after White Ribbon Day so we are able to include your panel in the giant ribbon, so please ensure it is kept clean and safe!
- If your community is hosting the White Ribbon Ride, please ensure the pledge panel is at the event and put on display. This is a perfect opportunity for members of the public to sign the pledge.
- Please return your panels to the Families Commission at the completion of your White Ribbon events to become part of the giant white ribbon.
- If you would like to display the 2010 Giant White Ribbon in your community, please contact us and we will send through the available dates.
